This was a project where we had to produce a selfie using the mesh tool in Adobe Illustrator. One thing to know about rendering an image using the mesh tool is that it takes much time and consideration. You might lose your mind or want to rip your hair out when manipulating the anchor points of the mesh but in the end, what you put into the image will be what you get out of the image.
I used a high-quality image for this project and that is what allowed me to get such immense detail in areas such as the nose, lips, and teeth. The most difficult part was the hair for me. I sat and pondered on how much detail I wanted to put into the hair and I just settled on putting in some highlights here and there. I am proud of what come of that and then I was to tackle the jersey. I found a creative way to do the numbering on the shirt but I had trouble with the white base of the jersey. As you can see there are some hiccups in the jersey such as the harsh "creases" of the jersey that would need to be touched upon to create a better likeness to the actual image.
Overall, this project introduced a new tool that I would say I excelled at but that there is still room to improve. If you ever find yourself on Illustrator, bored one day, I encourage you to find an image on the internet to recreate using the mesh tool. All I have to say to you is good luck and step away from the computer when you need to.
